extensions In an effort to raise the awareness and increase adoption of OpenID, US$5,000 will be donated to the first ten software projects that meet the requirements of a bounty program. Currently there are a lot of suggestion but only Joomla seems to have implemented the requirements. Thus there is still a good chance of winning the pot.

There requirements are:

* Distribute under an OSI-approved license.
* Have at least 200,000 public internet users and 5,000 downloads per month.
* Implement OpenID 2.0 support as a Relying Party (RP) or Identity Provider (IdP).
* Pass the OpenID compliance testing tool (to be released in August 2006).
* Make enabling OpenID no more difficult than changing one configuration setting (there can be more optional configuration settings).
* Distribute the implementation as part of the project's core (it cannot be an additional download or patch).
* Place an OpenID logo in the signon form (as on this site).
* Answer "What is OpenID?" (or link to an answer) near the signon form.

I think the 2 requirement is hard to meet for any piece of software. But IMHO PostNuke is popular enough.

As you know PostNuke .8 includes a new login system which is open to all kinds of authentications. It should be a piece of cake to implement the OpenID-system. So if you are interested in doing the job, you should get into contact with the OpenID-people.

Moreover PostNuke could use some pro comments on the OpenID page.

I met the OpenID guys a couple of times now and its a very nice project. OpenID integration should be achievable within PostNuke within pn8 and would personallybe willing to spend some time on it

Do we really want to support a system that bundles all online activity of a person into one single phish-able - and probably also hackable - identity? Our users will pay with a drastically increased risk, just to get a slightly easier login process.

I strongly vote against it!

Greetings,

Chris

Microsoft supports OpenID in Vista and users of both AOL and (unofficially) Yahoo! now have OpenIDs.

1. .8 supports multiple authentication mechanisms - so if someone includes OpenID as one possibility it is still up to every administrator to offer OpenID or not.
2. @attachmentgenie: If you want to implement OpenID for PostNuke, you are welcome to do it. If you additionally want the 5000$, you'll have to take care of that matter. The Core-Team supports the effort.
