Blocks Administration

(Incomplete - in progress.)

Blocks are used to:
  • Display content created by modules (e.g. Calendar block or News block or Menu block);
  • Allow the user to interact with the modules that perform the actual content management (e.g.Log-in block)
  • Label the location on the displayed page of specific functions (e.g. "right block" or "center block" or "left block").

Not all Modules have blocks for displaying information, but almost all Blocks are linked to a parent Module. It is possible to have more than one block linked to the same parent Module, with different display options.

Managing Blocks

To manage your Blocks, click on the Blocks module link in your Administration Menu. You will see a table with four links above it:
  1. New Block: calls a form for creating and configuring a new block.
  2. View Blocks: shows the table of active blocks. This is the default view you see when you enter the Block Administration area.
  3. Show All Blocks: regenerates the table of blocks and includes inactive blocks (and changes the Show All Blocks link to Show Active Blocks).
  4. Configure: allows you to change global block settings.

There are eight columns in the block table, with functions as follows:
  • Order:
  • Position:
  • Title:
  • Module:
  • Name:
  • Languages:
  • State:
  • Options:
