System Requirements

PostNuke can run on a Windows or Unix server with the following capabilities:

  • Webserver software of any kind, Apache recommended.
  • PHP scripting language, compiled with MySQL support.
  • MySQL database, version 4.1.6 or greater.
  • An absolute minimum of 15 megabytes of disk space

The Apache webserver can be downloaded from the Apache project at http://www.apache.org, MySQL database software can be obtained from http://www.mysql.com and PHP from http://www.php.net if you are building your own server.

It is recommended that you have around 30 megabytes of disk space for small sites, and 100 megabytes plus for larger sites. On top of this, your MySQL database will hold all the information for your site, and this will grow larger as the site is used. The longer the site is in operation, the bigger database that will be needed. It is therefore recommended that you have at least 10 megabytes of MySQL database space, and more for larger sites. If your MySQL database has a query limit, then it most likely will not be suitable to run a content management system.
