dwAphrodite Theme for pnForum

By: Wendell (Wendell) 2006.04.10

Tired of bloated PNphpBB2 forums but still want a similar look and feel of phpbb-based forums? Look no further.

Introducing the dwAphrodite theme for pnForum!

This theme is based on the "Aphrodite" theme by CyberAlien at phpbbstyles.com. It was further modified during the conversion for maximum compatibility with pnForum. Also note that work done by Franky Chestnut (PostNuke France) was often referenced during this conversion.

Included with this distribution are text files containing the code needed for the "code" and "quote" configurations of the pn_bbcode module. This new code ensures that code and quoted text in your forum will match with the rest of the theme.

Additional buttons were also created to match the theme which are specific to pnForum. Original PSD and full installation instructions are included as well.

Just wanted to point out that I have already completed 20 bug fixes, feature enhancements and customizations, which will be included in a version 1.1 release in the near future.

Version 1.1 will also have custom search pages so you can completely bypass the PostNuke search feature. However, it seems that the pnForum search feature does not produce results like one would expect. I will be posting a bug report at the pnForum NOC. For instance, searching for the term "test" in my demo forum produces no results even though there are at least 3 posts containing the word "test".

Other pages, such as "notify moderator", "Latest Posts" and many admin pages will also be customized to match the theme.

Please visit my forum to inform me of any anamolies you find so that I can release version 1.1 as clean as possible. icon_smile

Several people pointed out that they couldn't register on my website due to never receiving the confirmation email. It should work now. Sorry for the inconvenience.

I installed this following all instructions and it doesn't work properly. The theme doesn't change from what it was as default and [code] and [quote] can only be seen when previewing the message but after it gets posted all i see is a bunch of code

It looks like it may be looking in the wrong path for your theme? I see you have "Fleximple" in the templates, but I believe the name of that theme is "Flexsimple"... ?

In the upcoming update, I will have the templates dynamically pull the theme path.

Fleximple is actually the correct theme name. And when you post a message and do a preview it does show the quotes and the codes, but after you post, it just shows the gibborish. Do I need to enable any HTML tags in admin-settings?

I fixed it. I had to enable a few HTML tags in the settings area of PostNuke. This took care of the code and quote problem, however the forum still isn't blue.

to what directory did you upload the new templates?

you should have them in:

themes/fleximple/modules/pnForum

I think.

NOT in the pnForum directory.
