twp_grouprank - v0.5

Author: Topiatic

PostNuke Version: PostNuke Phoenix .760

Type: Xanthia

Description:

twp_grouprank: Takes a user id ($uid) and checks if the user belongs to any of a set of predefined groups, and if so, returns that group name.

twp_grouprank requires that you first open the file in your favourite text editor and set the group names you wish to be searched for. The plugin is fully documented, please read all the headers to ensure you are setting it up correctly.

twp_grouprank should be placed in your themes/YourTheme/plugins directory (create one if you don't already have one) and then called via custom templates in your themes templates directories. Again please see the inline documentation for usage details. You can also use it as a pnRender plugin but that would limit it's site-wide usability, but, may be required if you're not using Xanthia.  Alternativly, it can be used on a per module leve as well, but this is not recommended as it involves changing a modules file structure.

The effects of twp_grouprank can be seen by following the demo link, and if you click on the user profile link from the member list you'll see it there too, and in any member forum post of the same website. Any where you see 'Guild Leader', 'Guild Officer', 'Guild Member', or 'Guild Friend', you are seeing that users 'Guild' group name upon which their site wide permissions are based.

I didn't see the need to add a user interface for this functionality, hence it being a plugin only. I may expand this into a module if it's used enough... wouldn't take much I know.
