After a search I came across a couple things in the NOC that looked promising, while there is nothing that has been released, there is a SVN repository of a Shoutbox by andreas krapohl and Mark West at http://noc.postnuke.com/projects/shoutbox/ I installed it on one of my sites and it seems to work great so far. It did take a little tweaking to change the background and text color on it but other than that, I like it a lot.
