Quick Question re: Post Nuke & Envolution  Top

  • I am currently using Envolution on one of my sites, this was the first time I had used a CMS and I liked it so much I began looking around for more...didn't realise it was a clone of Post Nuke...Duh to me then!!

Anyway, my question is this. Can the modules and blocks I use on my Envolution site be used on the up and coming Post Nuke site?
They look virtually identical, even down to the names.

Envolution is not a clone but a fork of PostNuke. These two plus a few others are forks of PhpNuke which is a fork of Thatware. Why don't you ask the Envolution folks if they worked with the developers here to make their modules and blocks compatible with PostNuke. My guess is Envolution might be able to run at least some PostNuke ones but not vice versa.
  • OK thanks for clearing that up.
Sorry for my incorrect terminology, but from a users point of view they are nearly identical.

Oh, I completely agree. I haven't looked at Envolution's code, but it's suppose to be a rewrite of PostNuke. IMO they and Xaraya who both forked off this one show a complete lack of originality. They could have implemented some really progressive ideas but instead just copied basically the same features so they all look the same to users. If the developers across them would work together they could share modules/blocks, but I kind of doubt that is happening.
