  • Hi! I'm trying the same thing, and I'm having two problems: I tried to CHMOD 666 both files, but the first time I tried got a "command not understood" error. Now, when I try nothing happens... Is this because I'm on a Windows server (read that elsewhere)?

I also tried to access the install page (despite the fact I couldn't make the change), and got:
Warning: main(pnadodb/adodb.inc.php): failed to open stream: No such file or directory in D:\hshome\user\domain.net\install.php on line 93

Fatal error: main(): Failed opening required 'pnadodb/adodb.inc.php' (include_path='.;c:\php4\pear') in D:\hshome\user\domain.net\install.php on line 93

    Any suggestions?

    Try that. :D

  • Wasn't the exact same situation, but it helped me to work through it- thanks! Now, I'm at the point in the install where I need to set up the database. When I step through the process I indicate that I need to create a new database (the check box), but when I click "Start" I get the following error:

Warning: mysql_pconnect(): Can't connect to MySQL server on 'localhost' (10061) in D:\hshome\user\domain.net\install\newinstall.php on line 37

Warning: mysql_query(): Can't connect to MySQL server on 'localhost' (10061) in D:\hshome\user\domain.net\install\newinstall.php on line 38

Warning: mysql_query(): A link to the server could not be established in D:\hshome\user\domain.net\install\newinstall.php on line 38
    Unable to make database

I'm having trouble finding any reference to this- am I doing something wrong?
  • Did you already create a database for that installation?.. If not, maybe you should.
After creating the database, fill in the info during install and try again without checking off the "create new database".

  • Stupid question, but how do I create the database? I had thought (perhaps incorrectly) that it was created automatically as part of the installation process.
  • are you the system admin? or trying to install this locally?
    and have mySQL database?

  • Yes, my host has MySQL- I'm trying to install it on my host's remote server. I'm absolutely new to this, obviously...
  • Ok... if your account came with a database, you need to create the database first (most likely through your host's admin panel). Once you create and name the database.. try the install again, this time adding the correct information (localhost, DB name, DB user, DB pass)...

Once you complete that, do NOT check the box for "create a new database" .

If the database information was correct, you should see it creating tables from the installation into MySQL.
If you are not sure about your DB info, ask your host. :)

  • Thanks, I tried it (after adding the database using the admin control panel) and it still didn't work... I sent the question to my host for help. :)
  • Good luck!.. Chances are you just need the correct database information for install.

  • Well, the support staff at my host never e-mailed or called me back today, and they aren't available during the weekend. :( In the meantime, can anyone give me any information that might help me to troubleshoot this without their help? I have access to create a MySQL database via my admin control panel, but I don't know that I'm doing it correctly...
  • Ok, maybe you can figure this out yourself.

    1. dbname = database name
This sometimes is pre-determined on some hosts, others have yourdomain_com_-_dbname. Or you may be able to create your own name.

    2. I feel you shouldn't have a problem knowing your dbname & dbpass

    3. localhost. This can be all kinds of different things. Most popular is "localhost".. or "127.0.0.1"

If you can figure out that information you should be alright. The rest is done through PN's install.
There really isn't any other way to help you on this matter.
