How to use PostNuke?
 Top

  • I have download the files. But I still have no clue where and how to begin using PostNuke!!! Can someone help me??? Thanks!!!!
  • Just unzip all the files to the root of your webserver, or where you want your site to be.
Make sure to keep the directory structure in tact. Now just point your browser to the install.php file.
For example: if your domain is http://www.mydomain.com/install.php or http://www.mydomain.com/pn/install.php.

The rest is pretty simple since it is a graphical install.
A couple important notes. The username you supply for the database must have the appropriate permissions to create databases and tables.
I hope this is clear and makes sense
  • I have download in .zip format. How can I unzip the files in the server? I am not the administrator to the webserver. Does that mean i have to upload the files individually?
  • WE'd need to know more about your hosting providers setup. If you're provided with CPanel Control Panel (You'd access it via http://www.yourdomain.com/cpanel/) then there is a file manager that can unpack Tar.gz which is the other archive available.
  • if you are using unix then you can use gzip.
I think the command is gzip -d -S "".zip filename.zip
Dont quote me on that though.
You should view the man pages by typing "man gzip"

    Hope this helps
  • The above is if you have telnet access to your server which you should
  • That's a dangerous assumption Curt. I don't allow telnet/shell access to my clients and I know many other providers who don't too much potential for willful or accidental mayhem.
