How do i get rid of the sample banner and make my logo as wide as the screen and still the same proportions?

This is basically a theme question and better posted there, but the long and short of it is that you can edit your theme.php and/or associated files to get the desired effect. To get rid of the banner, go to Admin->Banners and disable banner display on your website...
