    hello,
I was wondering can someone help me with My_eGallery
I've just installed My_eGallery 3.1.2 on PostNuke 0.764 and I follow the readme file and the installation instruction regarding CHMOD 777 the cache, gallery and its subs, and temp directory. Initialized and activated.
Here is my problem, when I try to create a category I have this message:
"The script was unable to create the directory. Please check you write permissions."

what did I do wrong? any help on this would be appreciated. thanks in advance.

Hi and Welcome to the PostNuke community! icon_smile

First, i want to recommend you to not use My_eGallery because that's an old and abandoned module. You can use Mediashare, or use the menalto Gallery integration...

    Happy PostNuking! icon_cool

Good luck getting Mediashare to work. His instructions are a little shallow and not for the new user. Here.. I was gonna install this (in fact I did an initial install but didn't work) Now see if you can figure this statement out. This is quoted from his install instructions:

"Then make sure the right CSS styles are available. If you are using a Xantia
theme then everything should be fine - it will automatically load "style.css"
from the "pnstyle" directory. Otherwise you have to copy the "style.css" data
    into your theme's stylesheet manually."

That's really helpful.. Huu??? Have no idea WTF he means.. so I just deleted it.. I'm not just using Xantia, My main theme is built for AutoTheme Lite, and Mediashare didn't work. But as far as the comment above, I have NO idea what the hell we are suppose to do. Anyone care to elaborate a little more one what needs to be added or changed?

    Thanks

If I were you. I wouldn't even bother installing My_eGallery because no more support is offered and the project has been off for the past three years. It is a great gallery and I still have it on my site but it is breaking apart and falling behind as new updates of PostNuke is released. No one is updating My_eGallery anymore.

Start with some gallery that is upported and has a future. Menalto seems to be the closet you can get to My_eGallery.

I wonder why no one is interested in updating My_eGallery.

If you are looking for a simple Photo gallery that just works out of the box I would take a look at PhotoGallery.

I actually started upgrading My_eGallery at one point for personal purposes (pnRendering the output etc.) then I discovered that Mars had actually started doing it himself in the CVS so I gave up not wanting to reinvent his wheel and all. I've no idea what condition it's in now, but the other less labour intensive solutions would probably be a better way to go.
