  • It also can't be stressed enough that any problem you have has probably already been asked about. The forums are searchable, and usually you can find multiple threads with all the information you need.

Specifically about this issue, if you click the "Administration" link in your menu you'll see a really big icon at the time labeled "Admin Messages" --it's very hard to miss.

REALLY! I would have never thought of that!
As much as I enjoyed your sarcasm, I tried that and created several messages. They are active and set to the center block, yet they do not show up on the start page.

Good advice, accept there is no information on how to get the admin messages to appear on the start page. I found info on how to change the start page to use a module, but admin messages is not one of the options when you go to change it. I also did do a search. I am sure the question has been answered before, but sometimes it is extremely difficult to get relevant info from searching. At least not without reading 200 threads. I'm not sure what operators this search feature accepts or maybe I could narrow the results a bit.

You will find your problem is that you have not clearley stated your problem.

This is what you originally said - which tells a support guy you dont not know how to make an admin message appear on the start page - immediatley thought of solution? Add one!

If you had said that you had admin messages set, but they were not showing up you would have immediatley got a response like this:

The problem is with your theme, it doesnt support centre blocks - try using a core theme, your messages should show up.

So you see, the solution lies with making a more specific topic title / post.

Are you using a non standard Language and is the language set correctly for that specific block? Or for the message?

BTW, I agree with the people about your crooked question, but I like your sarcasm. Do not let them scare you... icon_smile

Point taken, I should have been more specific.

I will try one of the core themes and see if this solves my problem. I noticed that when I go into setting and change the startup page. Admin messages are not one of the options. What should this be set to?

    Thank You for your help.

Admin messages isnt a content module as such - it is just a blocks module, so you can only display it's content in a block. As such it doesnt appear as an option.

  • So if you assign a block it should appear across all pages no matter what? If that is the case then you are probably right about it being my theme. None of the themes I have display the center block, but I deleted all of the core themes. I will re-up them and see if that helps. Thanks for your patience.
  • Centre and right blocks will only display on the homepage - left will display every page.

(Psst, that's except, not accept). There is now. The FAQ has been amended to reflect your particular problem, which is not an uncommon one.

It's a good idea to keep one of the core themes handy, even if you store it outside of your themes directory, so you can check problems like this one and determine the nature of the problem. Remember that themes control the appearance and output of data. If you have everything enabled properly and something doesn't show, it's likely the theme at fault

    BTW, not entirely true.
You can enable right block display in the admin menu somewhere.
    Ah, here.

Administration, Settings. Display right blocks in Articles.

Thats the related links / author block when viewing a full story, not right blocks on all pages.

Of course they display all blocks on all pages in Xanthia.

Which can get pretty messy and annoying on a 800x6700 screen.

But true, I never fully tested the right block option.

That is the second error you catch me on in 15 minutes!
