I want my start page to point to a content express page that I have created. How can I do this.

In CE, under it's settings, make the CE Page you want the default page, then make CE the Default module.

Just tried and it works.

One other thing .. The page does not display different font sizes or colors. Is there a setting for this as well.

I expect your style sheet over-rides your font settings.
