Unable to make database
 Top

  • Okay. after some great suggestive help, i've now got to the installation screen stage.

If i check the box for 'create database i get.....
    ------
    Unable to make database
    ---------

If i leave the box unchecked... i get......

    ---------
    No database made.
Fatal error: Cannot instantiate non-existent class: adodb_mysql in /home/myusername/www/postnuke/pnadodb/adodb.inc.php on line 3211
    ---------

I believe i've entered all the correct information, such as 'localhost' etc...

RE: SQL, my host is running 3.23, is this adequate ?
    PHP version is ... 4.3.3
    -----

What could that 'fatal error' mean, is it a missing file, or something else ?
  • leave the box unchecked if you already have a database.

Re upload all the files - seems you are missing some

  • oh my god.... i'm being driven insane.

'somehow' again, my ftp program 'smartFTP' seems to be refusing to upload all the files in any given folder'.
The thing is, its never given me a problem before, which is why i never actually questioned that it had uploaded them in the first place.
    ---
as a side issue.... what would any of you recom. as a 'reliable' ftp program.

Firezilla seems popular around here - and it is opensource. Search www.sourceforge.net

  • Thankyou very much.

Update. After fiddling with my FTP -(it was timing out too soon sometimes, so files stopped uploading) I've done it.

The database is created.... all installed. Everything is all good. My First CMS program on my site :)

All i need to learn now, is how to configure it all :)
    Once again, thanks. :D
