postguestbook screen goes blank after clicking post

i've apparantly over-tweaked my postguestbook module cuz now when you leave a message and click 'post' it brings up a blank white page (though it still posts the message).
if you click reload/refresh on the BLANK SCREEN it will post the message again. if you keep clicking reload/refresh it will keep posting the message.
it's fair to say that i have been deleting a lot of duplicate and triplicate guestbook entries.
i tried uploading fresh copies of the PHP files in the module but still no luck.
