Adding image to Article (News Module)

Anyone know of a good hack that will allow an image to be uploaded for use on a news article using the core module. I know that there are other modules out there that will let me do this but I want to use the core module.
If nothing else I will write one myself but wanted to make sure that it has not already been done first.

well, you could feasibly use the core news module for this, however there is no easy method to allow users to upload their own images. My solution to this would be to use the core news module for display only, and have the users upload their images via another module, perhaps the upload module mentioned elsewhere in these forums, or even an image gallery module with upload capabilities....
inserting a hosted image into a news article is the easy part, please read this post for details.
