Complex PostNuke install?
 Top

  • I have a Public website that uses PHPFetch to interact with my PHPBB Forums. I want to create a personal website with PostNuke for my family and friends.

I only have 1 mysql database.

Will I be able to install PostNuke to a subdomain (other then the one PHPBB is installed in) and be able to use phpbb as the forums? I'd also want the PHPBB forums to look different on the personal site. Is this even possible with 1 SQL database? My brain hurts

    My website is http://fansitex.com
  • PostNuke and PHPbb2 can use the same database, so you will get away with only having one. When doing the install, point it to your existing DB. (you can even install PNphpBB2 for PostNuke on the same DB !) Just make sure you pick unique prefixes for each different application!

how your subdomains work is dependant on your hosting, you will need to contact them on how to set this up.

Idealy, you could put the PostNuke install in something like fanistex.com/postnuke (or whatever)

and then set up a subdomain to point to that folder... again you need to contact your host for this or check the documentation on their site and/or control panel if available.

    good luck :)
