Go back to Postnuke 0.726-1 ?
 Top

  • I would like to go back to PostNuke 0.726-1 until this pnrender and xte thing along with the PostNuke 0.726-3 is worked out. I have so many modules that don't work and I am getting errors in them all. How can I do that safely without corrupting my database and making a huge mess of things?

    Thank you,

  • Then go to 726-3 and don't install XTE.

Michael my friend, I have uninstalled xte and left pnRender and am still having the problems.

The core messages module is not working. I now get this error. "
Fatal error: Call to a member function on a non-object in /hsphere/local/home/prairier/footprints-online.com/modules/Messages/index.php on line 54" when trying to access new messages or when trying to go to my inbox. There used to be a link to the messages module in the user account area but that is no longer there. I uninstalled and checked the database to make sure all of the tables were deleted for messages and reinstalled a fresh install and I am still getting the error.

Postcalendar is not working properly. The fixes at elfisk.com made me able to at least add events and view the calendar on the homepage, etc. but when I click on the individual dates to print, edit or view I am still getting this error. "
Fatal error: Call to a member function on a non-object in /hsphere/local/home/prairier/footprints-online.com/modules/PostCalendar/plugins/function.pc_date_format.php on line 27"
I have doublechecked and triple checked that all the files were updated according to the tutorial and they are and it worked fine before the update.

My gallery from Menalto is no longer working properly. I get blank white pages when trying to view individual pictures.

I have had several others too, but I can't remember what they are at the moment.... Just got home from a quick roadtrip and will have to test all of my mods again but will post the errors in this thread as I come across them. About 5 or 6 of the problems have been fixed with help from others and modified files.... I hope I can get these all up and running properly again....

    Thanks,
  • Maire,

These are all errors consistent with the known problems in modules generated by XTE installing while you may have deactivated the modules and removed these files don't forget you also update certain core files too. The only difference between .726- and .726-3 is two security patches nothing more.

It would also appear that your trying things out on a live site. This is never good practice. ALWAYS have a test available that you can try out new code, modules, upgrades on. A test site should always mirror your live site (duplicate the database using phpMyAdmin) so that is a valid test of the new code. This way you can isolate any issues prior to performing the same change on your live site.

Also bear in mind that XTE is still only in RC stages and thus will contain bugs - although most of the bugs have been in 3rd party modules that are hightlighted by stricter coding in the core (postcalendar aside).

  • regarding the postcalendar problem: try the postcalendar 4.0.2 CVS version for an improved pnRender (and HTML) compliance

Is this one more compliant with the new pnRender?

  • Trying it on my test site with the new PostNuke gold. Will see how it installs and works.
