  • ..i installed with fantasico from my control panel...install was fine...however reminder block had message to edit these files from my PostNuke directory...i found the file highlighted the files & deleted in edit mode on control panel...but they would not delete... i also changed my pw...would this suffice...any suggestions...thx...
  • Try deleting it from CPanel's File Manager.
  • ..ok thx for the reply mhalbrook...i was trying to remove it as you suggested this way but with no luck...now on trying again i am wondering if i have found the PostNuke directory...when i locate the the text file Phoenix-0.7.2.6sql...which is the only one i can see...perhaps the directory file is in another location...& what i am trying to delete is just a readable info file...am i correct...thx...

  • This is why I don't even allow my hosting clients Fantastico. When you used Fantastico to install the script, it asked you for a directory to install PostNuke to, the file and folders should be in that directory.
  • Update: I just did a fantastico install on one of my own sites, it remoeves the folder and file for you, just remove the block from your Blocks admin.
  • ...thx very much for running that trial mhalbrook...you would think my support would have known that i asked them on a ticket that very question would it already have been removed...know when you say remove the block...do you mean delete it...deactivate or just edit out the text in the reminder block...i have changed the wording...

...as for fantasico...yes it did ask me for a directory..or leave blank if i wanted it to open on my domain...which i did...where if you check my site you see that my photo gallery i labelled directory coppermine so to reach you have http://hardcasesound.com/coppermine ...this is probably all basic to you but for me...as my f.a.q. states...what is hardcasesound.com...its a learning experience for me...lets see who comes...hehe...thx again for being here...

Last time I actually paid attention to Fantastico's dialogues, it indicated that the host doesn't provide any support for the scripts, is it not saying that any longer? I have Fantastico because it's part of what I have from my provider, but I don't enable it for any clients sites because I know despite any statements indicating I don't support the scripts I know i'll still get support requests. There's also the fact that current version is .7.2.6-3 and if you're right, they have .7.2.6-1 and they don't provide upgrade installs. Trust me, learn how to install the scripts with out Fantastico, it will fare much better for you in the long run.

    Any of the above.
  • ...yes you are right...they do not offer support...in my inital ticket to them...i said that upfront...all i wanted to know as a security issue...were the files already removed...you would think that would be a standard answer...they are dealing with a lot of noobs starting off...thats why they offer fantasico...they also offered to get back to them if the edit didn't work...problem is i can't show you the tickets...& it is history now... :) ...

...yes that upgrade to .7.2.6-3 was puzzling me how to get around to figuring that out...& to tell you the truth i'm not big on two finger typing...i run a ventrilo server off my p3...so i can talk...gr 10 typing was a long time ago...

...anyway...the buzz word is change is good...so i'm putting along...on the keys...

...where is it i will find how to install without fantasico...i imagine somewhere there is a lesson in forums...

...again mhalbrook your humour is great "any of the above"...

    ...regards...

  • Look through the FAQ, there's some info in there. I'm working on trying to decide if something better than the Core FAQ is in order for this particular purpose. I don't like that it's a pain to reorganize things in the FAQ, nor am I particularly enamored of it's display functions.
  • ...ok thx for the location mhalbrook...just getting back here today...the world outside got my attention for a couple days...good to catch a reinstall before i get too deep with the PostNuke site...love that bluezzz guy...so much detail...a n00b with all fingers on the home row... :) ...

  • ...hello again mhalbrook...i looked around in faq's but did not see anything pertaining to installs of PostNuke...so i am using the 7.2.6-1 installed at moment...but i did notice a file called bridge in my coppermine photo gallery...when i was uploading pics with smartFTP very user friendly that program compared to ws_ftp_le...going to look in PostNuke for the bridge file...maybe that is the answer...take me to the bridge... icon_lol ...but i will wait for a reply...everything is running fine separately...if there is a way its worth the wait...

  • ...i read up on intergrating coppermine with bulletin board...with the bridge file...for me it seems that the mess created in admin is not worth the bother...however for those that want to go for it...here is the link... http://coppermine.sourceforge.net/manual.php#integrating
