  • Hi all,

I'm new to PostNuke and both installations of PostNuke 0.7.2.6 and 0.7.5.0-RC2 (tried both) fails after the third installscreen. After selecting the language (tried them all) the following error shows up at the permission check:

    _CHMOD_CHECK_1 (Not checked)
    _CHMOD_CHECK_2 (Not checked)
    _CHMOD_CHECK_3 (This one is checked)
    _CHMOD_CHECK_5 (This one is checked)

See also: http://my.localhost.…0726-0750-error.jpg Notice the _BTN_RECHECK, is there something wrong with the languages?

It looks like I cannot continue the installation because of the _CHMOD_CHECK1 and _CHMOD_CHECK_2.

    I've done the following:

    1) Read the pnGuide
    2) Created a DB with user/passwd
    3) Downloaded the tarball (i've got shell access)
    4) Extraced the tarball (tried zip file too)
    5) Ran the install.php -> Installation fails ...
    6) Tried other languages
    7) Ran the install.php -> Installation fails again ...
    8 ) Chmodded the permission config.php to 666
    9) Ran the install.php again -> Installation still fails ....
    10) Used pnForum with search
... and couldn't find a solution so went to nr. 11
    11) Entered this post icon_lol

I don't have a quota at the filesystem nor database (DB doesn't matter since it doesn't come that far). The site is running Apache 2.0.45 with PHP 4.2.3 so that can't be wrong too.

Can someone point me into the right direction to get PostNuke working?
  • From the looks of what you're seeing, you're either missing files or trying to install in a language with no translation available. I just did a clean install of the 750 about 5 hours ago with no problems.
  • I can't miss any files because:

    1) Tried 0726 and 0750 with both fails on the same moment
    2) Downloaded via shell account (using lynx) and then untarred (and also unzipped) on the server itself. So nothing went via FTP.

I just double-checked. And the language files (English) are in the language/eng directory

    Other suggestions?
  • _CHMOD_CHECK_1 indicates that the system cannot find the language defines that it's looking for. If all the files unpacked correctly and are where they're supposed to be, then the problem could be in your php.ini settings. Can you post a link to a phpinfo report, or at least the include_path show in the report?
  • There ya go: http://my.localhost.nl/phpinfo.php

I'm going to bed now (2:11 A.M.). Already thanks for your time.
  • I still don't get it working on the specified machine.
I also took my router/webserver @home and it worked without any probs.
The include path specied is valid.
    What could be wrong?
  • If all the files are there, then there is something wrong server side. It could be with the OS. I know Mandrake Linux has had some issues with PostNuke due to a enviroment variable.
  • I have often wondered if it would be easier to fetch these files by shell myself..
Did you fetch them using the same user account that the site runs on???
    Maybe it's a permission issue??
What do I know... I have that many problems myself.. lol
  • I have tried downloading the PostNuke archive via shell. Extract it on the shell and also tried uploading via FTP. Both options fail. Apache is running under the useraccount nobody and i do have all filesystem permissions on the whole site. I don't know where to look for anymore.
  • Can someone take a look at this issue one more time? I really want this to get worked out. Thanks already ...
  • URL to your install PHP? Feel free to PM it to me..
  • mhalbrook: You've got a PM.

To others: I'll post the solution if found to help users in future.
  • Best I can tell, the files are where they're supposed to be, that means it's some configuration glitch on the server. What exactly? I couldn't tell you. But my guess is that there's something wrong with the include path. Can you upload a phpinfo.php file to the same location as the PostNuke index.php?
The file should contain one line...

I know you posted a link earlier, but I want to see a report on your domain, just to be sure.
  • It's on the same server. But there ya go: http://www.buffnuggles.nl/phpinfo.php
  • I don't think it's the problem, or related to it, but that's a pretty out of date PHP version. I'd see if they can at least upgrade to 4.3.5
