Core Modules & Blocks  ::
RSS feed search is driving me crazy!!!
 Top

  • Would anyone be able to direct me to a feed that pulls the latest virus updates, latest Microsoft news, and latest ? My plan was to use the ones from sophos, trend, symantec, and mcafee but I can't either of them to work. The XML is 1.0 and from what I've read PN 726 won't take it. Has anyone even considered working on a module that would allow you to integrate 1.0 feeds into PN 726 or do we have to settle for what's available?

    I searched sndic8.com but didn't find anything I was looking for. I also ran across the Yahoo and Feedroll feeds. Anyone know of any others?

    Thanks
  • You can use the Magpie RSS parser (http://magpierss.sourceforge.net/) to create your own block/module displaying the feeds you want to see. Magpie is very simple to use, and supports a broad range of RSS dialects.

  • This hasn't turned out to be as simple as I hoped. There's simply too much that needs reading to gather an indepth understanding of how to make this work. What I'm looking for is something similar to what's done here:
    http://pcprotectdotcom.com/index.php

    where you have the top virus alerts listed in the block. This one in particular is from Trend, but I also like the one from sophos. They provide the code and everytime I add it to an HTML block I get raw code displayed all across the screen. This is after I've enabled all tags with parameters.
    Therefore I'm hoping someone here can tip me on how to do this.

    Thanks

    If you don't want to read, you won't learn. There is a simple Uasge Example in the magpierss front page.
