Help me plz!!!
 Top

  • Hi!!! I'm kinda lost in this forum, there's no section I understood the title, so I post my question here. I'm installing Post nuke and it says:

    CHMOD Check

We will first check to see that your file permissions are correct in order for the script to write to the file. If your settings are not correct, this script will not be able to encrypt your data in your config file. Encrypting the SQL data is added security, and is set by this script. You will also not be able to update your preferences from your admin once your site is up and running.

Please change permissions on config.php to 666 so this script can write and encrypt the DB data (HINT: use "chmod")
Please change permissions on config-old.php to 666 so this script can write and encrypt the DB data (HINT: use "chmod")

What should I do??? plz help me!!! Think I'm a newbie and I don't know much about PHP or that kind of work... plz be simple icon_smile , cya!
  • what you need to do is make sure the files in question are "writable" by the webserver.. if you are using an FTP client you "should" be able to change the file permissions from within the client.

  • What permissions?!?!?!, what are those permissions?, could u tell me exactly what should I do?, Thank u very much, cya
  • See your FTP Program's help files, search for CHMOD
  • Or if you have CPanel you can do it form there in your File Manager find the Foulders/Files that need to be CHMOD and select it, then click on "Change Permissions" and form there you can set it to what ever it need to be ie 666 or 777 and so on.

As mhalbrook said if you have a FTP Program you can do it right through that as well.
  • Still confused... r u saying that... ... (?) I don't know what are you saying... BE SPECIFIC PLEASE I DON'T KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT IT - Do I need to change something in those PHP files it mentions or something at the server I'm using??? plz, tell me!
  • what ftp client are you using?
  • I'm using Dreamweaver but PostNuke is on the server
  • Dreamweaver requires an extension to allow you to CHMOD files, use a real FTP client filezilla is a good option, I don't have the URL Handy, but do a Google of the name and you should find it easy enough.
  • yeah ,first download a real ftp client
