This one's getting to me. I've been playing with NS-Newuser on a site for a school. I'd like new users to be able to select which group (e.g. campus) they are in during the registration process rather than putting them in the default group and changing it manually b/c the default restrictions override, etc. etc. etc. I've managed to get a pull-down menu with the options (using the gid # as the value, I think), I comment out the default group section; it doesn't give errors, but doesn't assign them to a group. I know VERY LITTLE about writing code and this is as far as I've gotten; also searched all the modules to find this without avail – please help?

Try pnGroups. They will "apply" to a group from your list, and you will be able to "authorize" it.

Couple it with my pnFirstVisit module/hack and you can at least direct them to pnGroups at their first log in. Not exactly part of the registration process but a workable solution for now.
