Installation, Configuration, & Upgrades  ::
nuke_autolinks, MySQL, PN uninstall...please help!
 Top

  • I've been trying for several weeks now to install PN with little success. Once, I managed to install PN successfully, but then I got the "Access Denied" error whenever I clicked on any module. I couldn't understand the FAQ instructions about this error, so I decided to try to uninstall PN and start from scratch.

    To uninstall, I just deleted all the PN files and recoppied them to my webspace from my harddrive. Now, whenever I try to install, I get an error saying "Unable to create nuke_autolinks." I've asked my web server people and everyone I know, so I'm almost positive my installation settings are correct.

    I finally had a thought about why I might have been able to install PN semi-succesfully once, but never again. Do I have to do something like delete all the old MySQL files? Is the MySQL space that I need taken up by my previous install, so the new install can't make the nuke_autolinks file? To uninstall, do I have to do more than just delete the files in my web directory? Does anyone even know what this nuke_autolinks thing is?

    Any help would be greatly appreciated. I've been banging my head against this problem for a few weeks now, and I've asked just about everyone I know about it, and I've gotten nowhere. If I don't get something here, I think I might have to give up on PN. Thanks very much.
  • Yes, you need to drop any tables in the database before trying to re-run the install script. Also make sure you follow the process through all the way to the end.
  • Alright, it sounds like I might actually make some progress on this problem =). How do I go about removing old MySQL tables that are lying around? When you say to follow the instructions completely, do you mean for installing or uninstalling? I couldn't find any documentation for uninstalling, and the installation instructions seemed to be basically "copy everything to your webspace and follow the onscreen instructions."
  • When I did my reinstall for PostNuke I first went to my mysql database via my phpMyAdmin accessed through my hosts control panel. This brought me to my database.
    Then on the upper left hand window it showed HOME and directly under that was the name of my database with the files for it listed underneath.
    I single clicked on the actual name of the database and a new list of all the files showed up in the right hand part of the screen. I scrolled down to the bottom of the screen and selected CHECK ALL and also selected from the little dropdown menu beside it DROP.

    By doing this it deleted all files from the database. I then proceeded back to my install portion for PostNuke and reinstalled into a clean database.

    I hope this makes some sense to you.
  • Hmm...I don't have phpMyAdmin...I can access it through a Unix Terminal, but that's it. Do I have to go get this other program too? Is there any way to clear my database through Terminal? If not, do I have to go get this phpMyAdmin program? I'm using Mac OSX, if that makes any difference. Thanks for the help so far =)
