Trying to install my PostNuke at home (through easyPHP software) first of all I set up the DB correctly.
During the procedure of installation I always get the message: "Cannot create the DB" or "Access denied for X user etc....."
I have read all the corresponding support files or tutorials, but I can't get out of the problem. I have installed PostNuke many times before but this is the first time I don't understand where I 've been worng.
Obviously the problem is when the site tries to connect to the DB.
Some tips:
1. There are two different users granted all priviledges in phpMyAdmin. When I try to connect as root/no pswd I get the message "Cannot create DB". When I use the usrnm/pswd (same as in phpMyAdmin) I get the message "Access denied for X user etc".
2. Both config.php and config-old.php are writable. I must not touch them, must I?
3. Do I have to alter any other file e.g. the "config.inc.php" file from "phpMyAdmin" folder? Or something in Apache folder? As far as I can remember I have never done this in previous installations.
4. What else should I do in phpMyAdmin apart from creating some superusers?
5. I have tried to install my nuke with or without my firewall or my antivirus program. It came to nothing.
6. What do I forget to do?
Help pls. "F1-F1-F1" !!

From the sounds of things, you've not given the database user the proper permissions. I'm not sure what needs to be done explicitly because I use tools to set it up and don't really pay a lot of attention to what permissions I set up on my home system, on my remote system I use CPanel, and it gives the proper permissions automatically.

What do u mean by saying "proper permissions"??

If you're sure you entered the correct host/uname/password during installation, then there is no need to edit config.php. And if you're sure you have these correct, then it could very well be a permission problem like mhalbrook said above. First question: Do you have shell access to your database? (command prompt)
