How do you install pnForum 2.0?
 Top

  • Hey all,

The new pnForum 2.0 release is getting rave reviews, but I can't seem to install it.

With other modules I've just untared them in modules/ and then done the initialize and activate in Admin->Modules.

How do I do this one?

  • I have done the Initialize and Active for the pnForum module in Admin->Modules. The next step, according to the instructions is:

"Then, do the same 'Initialize' and 'Activate' procedures with the pn_bbcode, pn_bbclick and pn_bbsmile modules."

But I do not have these modules under Administration-> Modules.

    Are they someplace else???

    Thanks!!!

  • Hi Skip, those modules should be showing up in your admin panel also so I suggest you make sure you've uploaded all the files into the directories. I know I had a problem with pn_bbsmile because I hadn't uploaded all the files but it still showed up in the admin panel. :) Good luck and let us know if you get it working.

  • Well, I took the zip file (I'm on FreeBSD) to a windows machine and had someone unzip it for me and write it to a CD-R, so maybe I didn't get all the files. I'll check it again.
  • The hooks are separate modules that you have to download from the same source as pnForum (sourceforge). They need be installed as a usual module.

  • Hi Landseer,

Thanks much for the help. You might mention that in the install document above where you say to activate them. Don't mean to nitpick, but it might be a helpful hint. I will say it's been a while since I've seen a module get the rave reviews pnForum is getting, so I'm chomping at the bit to see it on our site!

I think I can say ahead of time, Great Work!

  • Hello,

Installing pnForums I got to these instructions:

2.3.3. Go to PostNuke Administration panel.
    Select the pnForum link.
Click on 'Sync forum/topic index'. This will sync the list of users in PostNuke and pnForum.
Click on the 'Forum Wide Options' link .
Click on 'Restore defaults'. This will set parameters for pnForum

All went fine until the last step. After clicking the Forum Wide Options, I have
    no 'Restore defaults link.'
  • Go to the forum wide options and you will find the "Restore defaults" on the bottom of th screen, nect to the Submit button.

I will now close my support efforts for this year icon_smile See you again in 2005!

  • Got it. Phew! How did I miss that? {note to self: always scroll to bottom of screen when trying to locate a link}. Thanks tons Frank, sorry to be a doofus on this one. It looks very good and works very well.

It's now on our brand new community site: aroundbutte.com. (It's not procounced 'a round butt', by the way, as more than one person has suggested)
