Upgrade Database Problem - Unable to connect
 Top

  • I appologize in advance if I shouldn't post this, but after working on the problem for five hours I had to tell someone. File this under the "OK I'm a newbie and don't understand the config file" section.. The FAQ says when upgrading to delete the config.php and config-old.php files, which I did. But I ran into error's. First I got a Fatal Error ..... pnAPI.php on line 428 error. Then i re-installed those files and got an unable to connect to Database error. Tried to code my information into those files and it still didn't work. Then after searching through posts I found the simple answer. In the "new" config.php file there is this line (in case you're like me and didn't see it).

    $pnconfig['encoded'] = '1';

    Thanks to the short post I found I changed that to '0' , re-ran the install, chose upgrade, and voila.

    If someone could re-word this into something useful, (perhaps the troubleshooting area) and even if it only helps 1 person, then it was worth it. For what it's worth, I really like PostNuke :)

    Thanks

  • Of course, the new config.php file would not have your database information. You will have to firstly, read manual.txt again and understand that there are 3 lines to add in before upgrading to 0.750.
