Configuring postnuke locally

  • I don't have a webhost yet for my site. Can I still download and configure the look, theme, modules, etc., locally on my computer?
  • yes. you'll need to install:
    mysql
    apache
    php4 w/ mysql support
  • After configuring the website, you backup the database and copy the database and site files to your webhost. On some hosts you are limited in the name you can use for your database. This isn't a problem as its is easy to reconfigure the database name (edit config.php).

Be careful about your selection of webhost. There is plenty of advice and discussion in these forums about suitable hosts for PostNuke.
  • Thanks for your help and the advice, guys. I appreciate it!
