Installation, Configuration, & Upgrades  ::
What am I, and how do I move up?
 Top

  • I know my site is outdated, but how do I know what version I'm at?
    Where does it say?

    Also, how would I upgrade without losing users?
    Thanks
  • I did a "view source" on your site and it looks to be PostNuke 0.726 ... You are also running PNphpBB2 and you'd be best to install a new version of that that is compatible with PostNuke 0.726 after install.

    You should take a complete backup of your site before performing any upgrade. This means taking a making copy of all of the site files as well as the database behind it. Unfortunately no-one has automated the backup process so you'll need to do this manually.

    My preferred and the safest way to perform any upgrade of a PostNuke site is to copy it to an offline server and test the upgrade steps there. This will help you to identify problems before they destroy your live site.

    Plenty of PostNuke users have upgraded their sites successfully.

    The backup steps depend on the facilities that your webhost provides.... Its easier on some than on others.
  • And I can keep users?
  • Yes, there are no database changes between 726 & 750 that would affect your users.
