I believe markwest has commited an updated stats module to cvs which is templated and supports more browsers. You could checkout the module from CVS

Try the statistics module from www.mtrad.com. Markwest templated a version of it and I believe it's going to be in some future version of PN, but I don't know what their plans are.

Anyway, I can tell you how to update the statistics module for additional browsers, if the ones you are interested in aren't already there.

BTW, the PN dev team added a new module to PN 760 based on the old PHP sniffer technology. Kind of a shame as it will never be as up-to-date as browscap.ini technology. (But then, I shouldn't talk as I haven't added either of them to statistics <yet>). icon_smile </yet>

I added many browsers (safari, camino, firefox etc.) to the existings stats module (in cvs as outlined already). CRS's statistics module is still a better option for real stats and i'd recommend this over anything i've done.

The main problem with anything that uses browscap.ini is that most hosts never update this and many never install this file at all so it can't be relied upon on. The problem we have with PN is that we want the software to work on as many installs as possible.

Once CRS has added these browsers then there is no better stats solution available for PN; once templated it'll be even better....

Sorry Mark you lost me there, I am fairly new to this, I'm learning, but I don't really know what you meant by that.

I'll leave CRS to answer the question about the statistics module since it's his code. My reply (and particulary the browscap.ini bit) was more aimed at CRS than yourself.

Sorry about that Solo, I often use others as examples for my discussions with Mark and the dev team. It's unfair to you. icon_smile

I'm pretty sure that Firefox has already been added to the statistics module but hasn't been released yet. Send an email to me at crsATmtradDOTcom and I'll send you a patch or we can discuss how you can patch it.

Mark: Creating a solution that will *never* be good as a browscap.ini-based solution is worse than creating a solution that uses browscap.ini when available and sniffer when not available.
