    Hello.

I can get neither the RSS Newsfeed Block, nor the RSS Extra Block setup to work. Are there OS and/or MySQL DB permissions issues with enabling these blocks? If yes, then I would be grateful for a pointer as to where I can see what they are for Linux and what one should do to get the RSS Newsfeed Block working with common RSS feeds, such as GMail, etc? Oops, nearly forgot, the PN version is .750 Gold.

    Thanks

    Mike

There are not OS or MySQL DB issues with enabling these blocks. On the other hand, some hosting providers configure their firewalls to prevent retrieving external RSS feeds from the server. So, try retrieving the RSS feed for your own site (ie - backend.php.) Otherwise, you need to give us some more details of the behavior to be able to help you.

You can also try the rssblock available with the RSSdisplay module from http://www.mtrad.com. I've had very good luck with it. (But then, I'm biased.)

Yeah but I've been a little busy on the business front. And I'm trying to do a major redesign of www.mtrad.com. It will be way-cool when it's finally out. Wanted to get it done today but it will be some time this week.

Yes, RSSdisplay will get another release pretty soon. PN760 breaks the rssblock. RSSdisplay will be the next module that I release, right after I roll out the new www.mtrad.com. (And when you see it, you'll understand why.)

I also have new functionality for RSSfeed, statistics, NukeOwl and PostCalendar that I hope to release as soon as practically possible.
