I had mis-config'd my php.ini and did not have the ext directory stated.

Now I am able to create the database and talk to SQL but when I try and set the admin log in properties I get:

    Unable to update pn_headlines

Seems almost intermitent as to weather or not MySQL5 will work or not... should proly start a thread of working and non-working MySQL setups to see if we can spot the difference.

I wonder if it is theme related...

Doubt it as this behaviour is noticed during the install were the theme is allways ExtraLight.

I've fixed the PostNuke .7x installer to work with MySQL 5 today.

Until .762 is released with the fixed files, the two choices are to download updated install/newtables.php install/newdata.php and install/modify_config.php from CVS (no guarantees that the rest of the codebase is MySQL5 safe), or to disable strict mode in your MySQL configuration.

Ok. I just got this exact problem. I am installing webserver, mysql and PHP from scratch just to learn so I'm quite new to all this (I have installed PostNuke before though).

Please tell me, what implications does disabling strict mode have? And how do I do it?

More, has anyone tested a MySQL5 install with .761? Is it worth fixing it to work with MySQL5 using one of the above mentioned solutions or is it better to rollback my MySQL version?

    cheers Jens

For this, you'll need to refer to the mysql documentation at www.mysql.com

With the latest CVS, the installation at least does work, however I've not tested the rest of PostNuke .761 with MySQL 5, so the safest bet would be to use an earlier mysql version.

    I'm running mySQL 5.0

...OK, so you're saying that if I download the latest PN installer, that it should work with mySQL 5.0?... meaning I won't run into the "pN_headlines" error right? If so, then great. Thank you so much for not overlooking this mySQL 5.0 problem like a bunch of other CMS' have for the last few months.

I'm soo sorry for the triple reply... I thought it kept locking up everytime I hit "submit" because it took very long, so I ended up clicking more than once. Again, my apologies.

Yes, the installer at least will work fine. I can't say anything about the rest of the codebase, though if you do find any issues I'll do my best to fix them.

Just for clarity... I believe Hammerhead is saying that if you "download the latest PN installer" from the CVS that it should work.
