I am glad to say we have now resolved the performance issues here at community.postnuke.com.

It should be emphasized that this is not the fault of pnForum. Instead, we have found a flaw in an API that only appears in an environment such as pnForum when group membership must be read recursively for users in a topic. A fix will be available in SVN for this issue shortly.

In the meantime, the forums are now much faster.

Thank you all for your patience during the past few hours.

Unfortunately, I think there is still a performance issue, with my last five page render times as follows (in size places, not chronologic order):

    248
    203
    141
    81
    59

    Hi Peter,

While we did temporarily fix the problem, now traffic is causing other issues. We're upgrading the server very, very soon to resolve everything that remains.

I hope you are not mistaking my feedback for criticism, or even for impatience. I have this mantra: TTT (from a Piet Hein Grook: Things Take Time).

And as a physician, I frequently have to remind patients that they should be more interested in getting a good outcome than a fast outcome...

So, while I will continue to post feedback, please don't misunderstand me. I am thrilled at the changes and work going on, overall I like the new look (though it *was* a shock at first), and believe this all is progress.

We do appreciate the feedback - anything constructive is useful icon_smile

Some of us have been working on the community site all day for the past 3 days, so we're more than a bit tired. I am pleased to say that the problems are not far from being solved.

Hi guys. I think most of us do appreciate the time your putting into this project...I know I do.

I saw somewhere around here, that a case study is being put together for the recent site changes. I hope it will include some of the performance issues you're up against and how you're going about addressing them. It's easy enough to find references to the problems but less clear as to the etiology and solutions. I think a discusssion of the transition covering this would be very informative and helpful.
