Ok, I've tried AlarContact, vpContact and a whole slew of other contact "solutions" yet the ALL are damn open gateways for spamming!!
Does anyone know of a contact module that impliments some form of human validation such as captcha? There are several PHP scripts that create the images but had anyone implimented them into a contact module yet?
For that matter why doesn't pstnuke use this for various parts of the software? I've never had a PN site that hasn't been slammed by spammers/hackers.

Contact modules and captcha?

I am the maintainer of vpContact in the moment, and I agree with you that there is a growing spam problem. But:
1) PN permissions actually used can help a lot.
2) Captcha for user registration is already available as a fix for testing - please search the forum here.
3) Formicula is a far better contact module than the one I maintain (which is not developed any more), and comes with Captcha already activated and included (however, read the manual).
4) Captcha is no "all healing solution" against spam - be aware of that.
Finally - I have never maintained a PN site that has been successfully slammed by spammers/hackers. However, several of them have been slammed by Slasdot - not sure if this is good or bad.
Greetings,
Chris

Hey
I just completed a port of the NewUser captcha hack to vpContact. A first version is available here:
http://anubix.net/div/vpc_captcha.zip
Pack contains
- modified pnuser.php
- modified pnuserapi.php
- modified pnlang/eng/user.php
- new file jpgraph/jpgraph_antispam.php
Some layout modifications are included in the hack.
Let me know what you people think.
