Am making progress! I deleted entire contents of the new site, and installed PostNuke manually instead of using the site's control panel. IT WORKED. Now, when I access the admin module of PostNuke, it says:
Notice: config.php is writable (hint: chmod 644)!
Notice: config-old.php is writable (hint chmod 644)!
Should this be changed? If so, what chmod number should I change those to?
FTP'd the contents of the PostNuke/html folder to the root directory of the new server (per GoDaddy, as it would not work if left in a PostNuke or HTML folder). Got it running. Created an SQL database.
FTP'd AutoTheme's modules and themes folders into root directory. Used PostNuke to initialize AutoTheme.
FTP's Auto-theme's theme #425 (that we used on other site) into the Themes folder on root directory. Go into AutoTheme (admin screen, 3rd party) switch theme to 425... site crashes. Have to completely delete all folders and SQL database, and start from scratch in order to get anything back.
After MULTIPLE attempts to get support from Auto-theme on this, I am now running just PostNuke and AutoTheme (not theme 425) as it keeps crashing my site. I am now trying to get additional pages loaded onto my site (that I used before), and install a forums.
Problems:
when I place one of my extra pages (.php extension) into ANY directory even the root, pointing browser to it does nothing (page can't be found)...
Forums. Tried to install phpbb2. Placed it in a phpbb2 folder on root directory, Can't install it because pointing my browser to it's install.php file does nothing (page can't be found). Tried changing permissions (chmod) to executable/readable/writable... still can't access it.
Now, once before when I did not have PostNuke installed, I got the phpbb2 to run. Went through the entire installation. including setting up a second SQL database for it. Ran it, logged into it. Worked fine (except my admin login wouldn't work). But whenever PostNuke is installed, phpbb2 won't install.
If I'm not mistaken, phpbb2 has to be outside the CMS directory to work. But this server uses the root directory as the CMS directory. It is impossible to put it outside that directory...
So, I took a break, and tried to upload the contents of my old SQL database from the old site, into the new site's SQL database to hopefully bring back much of my settings and content. First told me the file was too large to upload, so I copied and pasted it. Then I got an error saying that the sintax was wrong (this is the portion it didn't like... it think).
This line appears at the end of each table code in the old SQL database.
I am truly getting to the end of my rope. I had no idea that a PostNuke site was so hard to move to a different server. I partially blame GoDaddy.com for telling the that it would be simple (when they really didn't know), and me for not having looked into it more before starting it.
I'm trying to figure out if it is still worth trying to fix (and return to its former glory), if that's even possible, or whether I should just break down and admit that the old site is dead (and a year's worth of content with it), and I should just start fresh with something else?
I don't get it. If someone has a magic bullet, now is the time to use it.
