Hi,

I would like to add a simple input page to collect data from
my forum visitors. My users will be taking trips and collecting
items on each trip. On their home page or as a menu item I'd
like to have a link saying 'Add a new trip count'. They'd
basically enter an integer value and insert the count into
the database.

On a block on the masthead I'd like to have a running count..Our
users have collected X items on Y trips. Similar to the forum summary
statistics. What I'm looking for is a starting place with a generic
module. I'm an experience perl cgi programmer with lots of SQL experience.

If there's a similar module to get me started I think I could figure
it out by reading the module documentation. Much of the developer docs
seem to be unfinished. Thanks for any advice.

To start there is the Example Module supplied with your PN distrobution. Look into that as a starting place.
