What exactly does this release address?
Has the question/answer for new users been included or will I have to reinstall after upgrade.
I mean, I take the attitude "if it aint broke - don't fix it!"
So the benefits of the upgrade are?

Did you not read the article? Lots of fixes, and upgrade should. Since anything can turn out the wrong way..
Make a back-up first ;)

Then I'm wondering where you're reading that.
There are 2 articles posted issueing the .7.6.3 release. In the main menu (top left) you see a link called 'home' you can't miss it.

The PostNuke development team is pleased to announce the release of PostNuke 0.763. This release addresses a number of bugs found in 0.762 and includes a less critical security fix to the downloads module. As a result, PostNuke website administrators should update immediately.
There are no new features in this release, only a fix package for known issues with the 0.762 release.

I'm disappointed that after I spend ages copying and pasting those links into the article they appear to be invisible :)
Upgrading to .763 should have no effect on any modules blocks or themes you have installed as this release only upgrades ADODB (and I think Smarty) and fixes some core issues. The changes are very minor.

I've downloaded the zip file where there should be only the patched files, but it weights 2,31 MB and it includes 1027 files.

Sure it seems like a lot of files, but variables are repeated over and over on each page of code...

The patch includes substantial updates to adodb and Smarty which increase the patch size.
