I just applied the 0.763 patch to my test site, and core news now fails with an SQL error:
DB Error: getArticles: 1052: Column 'pn_counter' in field list is ambiguous
This is Mysql 5.0.22 , however global.sql_mode is set to 'MYSQL40';

Well by mistake i removed the other line and now its all going haywhere.. can you please tell m how to restore it.
