Please see the downloads section of http://pnsetup.com (hopefully you can see it, it is still propagating, due to server changes).

    Just upload the uncompressed files.

Good luck, let me know if you have issues.

AmmoDump, I get the error: Message: Failed to load Captcha! when trying to download your patch. Hoping I can still get this to upgrade my site. Thanks!

  • Today, I noticed. If we are upgrading from .763 to .764. WE only need to dump the patch files not replacing the whole directory. Please make me in-charge of putting these files together. I promise to include every file correctly and write written instructions. It is very confusing, when downloading even the patch files; it asks to remove all the files entirely and then replace it with the current files.

Once again, we only need to download the patch files and dump it if upgrading from .763 to .764. We don't even need to call the upgrade.php file........

If i am wrong, please correct me. icon_biggrin

There is no upgrade.php included in this patch. Nor is there one included in my modified one from .762 (though, I did remove the file myself (amongst others), which was included in the .762 to .763 upgrade.

    The patch file release notice:
    reference: http://community.postnuke.com/Article2786.htm

    Quote

...Only download the patched files release if you are running a pre-existing 0.763 installation...

...and since there is no upgrade.php included, there is no need to call it.

  • Great for pointing that out, one thing was missed. Updating the /docs/manual.txt and clearly stating the upgrade process. I am not trying to cause trouble here, i am just pointing certain ways to make it better in the future and ease up the process of upgrading if released properly so it doesn't cause confusion...

  • I have been reading this thread to find a solution to upgrade PostNuke 0.762->0.764
And I tried The solution from Ammodump since I have understood there is no DB update - therefore only file transfer necessary ?

I wanted to close thoose security holes that is known in 0.762 and I have had a lot of problems related to attacks somehow.
Therefore I uploaded the update dump from Ammodump

Everything looked perfectly ok except one Module -> Xforum which I use as my forum.
A bit strange that It looked ok - But all my forums were now containing the same thread - and it was empty.
I tried hard to fix it restoring some mysql tables (though there is no DB update ?)- and found out it was impossible to fix - I could see the old forumsubjects but was unable to change settings and open the configuration to manual change forums.
Then I tried to reinstall my Xforum from the start - that is to set back the installation and delete the DB tables and start all over - But impossible for me.

Itīs really a great work you have done to make this update but Iīm a bit suprised that I couldnīt use it. So I had to restore Includes folder ->Then I was possible to continue restore DB and my Xforum lookes fine again.

I have done a lot in permissions and chmod to strict my CMS -
Is there something else i can do to keep up with security if I cannot use v. 764
Maybe if I look more into .htacces and do some adjustments this way - or any suggestions ?

  • WOW.. i was wondering why there was no DB in the 764 update!

Would be nice if someone had remembered to include the '764-specific' documentation in that patch. I was quite puzzled until I found this thread here icon_smile

I just did a 762-to-763 update, and it went flawlessly - now i'm updating the HTML folder with the 764 patches. I guess in half an hour or so, i'll see how it went...
  • .764 works PERFECTLY... in my case, the upgrade operation was a success! icon_biggrin

i did notice that the default "lite" theme has an annoying little bug in it (it makes all the content of the main panel CENTERED !@!!! ) but since i'm too lazy to start hacking away at it, i changed to the "PostNuke" theme and it behaves nicely

    Stop running the upgrade script!!!!

Anyway, I created an unofficial upgrade patch...

Please see the downloads section of http://pnsetup.com (hopefully you can see it, it is still propagating, due to server changes).

Thank you for this patch! I did have an issues though, when it is on the Home page it says "Welcome to PostNuke, the =-Phoenix-= release (0.762)" but when it is on the Admin page i get "PostNuke administration panel (0.7.6.4)"

Any idea why that would be??

    Thanks!
  • Lately I have made a clean install of v. .764 - and got the same problems w. Xforum.
Now I have upgraded to PNphpBB2 and it looks fine. I have no errors at all.

    Thanks to ammodump also from.

I will get in touch with a danish programmer about Xforum problems - It seams they are the one to develop this Xforum , which is quite nice and simple forum. -> ref. www.postnuke.dk

Other user problems: I can see some people have other problems (blank pages )but its likely that they are related to DB errors and not the version 764. - bye CU

Because that Admin Message is a content item, meaning it was already as text in your database. Not taken from the file system at all.

The message above your admin panel however IS taken from the filesystem, showing the current version. Which means you're OK. Just edit the admin message to suit your needs, or remove / re-add the Admin_Messages module to re-initialise the message (it shows the right message then).

  • Thanks AmmoDump! I just used your patch to upgrade my website http://www.gruppolocale.it from 0.7.6.2 to 0.7.6.4 and it seems all worked well. icon_smile

    Greetings,

    Marco

Update: there is a problem with the phpBB2 forum: the list of boards is still avaliable, but when I click on one of them, it seems that there is an error: "The forum you selected does not exist." Do you know how can I solve this issue?

The URL of the forum is: http://www.gruppolocale.it/pn/index.php?name=PNphpBB2
