  • I haven't installed .763 and just saw that .764 was released. Can I use the patch files for .764? Or must I upgrade to .763 then to .764? Perhaps I need to to a complete upgrade by following the upgrade script install? I am thinking that too many files have changed since .762. Thanks for your help!
  • I believe you will have to do 0.762 => 0.763 and then do 0.763 => 0.764 icon_frown

Locally, I would take the first patch. Then move the second patch over that directory, overwriting any files to create a hybrid patch. Then I would remove the stuff that does not need to be there, for instance the install.php, the install directory, the upgrade.php...

Then I would upload the hybrid patch.

It's like slipstreaming for PostNuke. icon_cool

  • Thanks for the replys. Wow. That seems like a lot of work. Wouldn't it be easier to do a full upgrade? I am guessing that the upgrade script doesn't support .762?

My idea was to download the .764 full installation and copy over my config.php, third party blocks/modules, etc and I should be in business. I assume .763/.764 doesn't change the database so there would be no need to run the upgrade script correct?
  • That is correct, overlaying both patches and uploading the sum, minus the excess would be easier in my opinion.

With the full version, you would still have to delete the extra files... install, ect.

  • I am still running .762 too. I downloaded the patch .764 (only link I could find) and copied it over top of my .762. I ended up with the main page not coming up. I then restored from backup. Went in on the admin and deactivated all my non-core modules then copied over the .764 patch again. Main page still did not come up. So is there an updated list of instructions on how to move from .762 to .764? If there has been no database changes in .763 and .764 then I don't understand why coping the files over top of my existing .762 should not simply work. I am hoping someone can explain this to me.

Won't work. Missing the 0.763 changes.

Either do the patches separately, or merge the 0.763 and 0.764 patches as suggested so wisely by Dave icon_cool and apply the merged patch.

To find the patches, go to Download on the left here and navigate to the patches.

  • Ok, done, same effect, have a peak ...

    http://www.theforgiven.net/index.php

It is rather broken. So what I did to recap is ...

Download .763 and .764, merge the .764 changes into .763, copied them over to my working directory, then ran the update via http://www.theforgiven.com/upgrade.php. Got the link to upgrade all my modules and it said it was complete. What you see now is the result of it upgrading. Before I restore back to the original, what did I do wrong?
  • Ok, even better, I restored, then followed the upgrade instructions found in the /doc directory which basically saids remove the contents of your /html then copy over the patch (in my case merged .763 and .764), add your in your custom modules/blocks, run http://www.theforgiven.net/upgrade.php. I did that, it reported it updated the modules and the site was ready. Now when I hit the site, there is nothing. Is it possible there is some database change (column or something) that needs touching?
  • I think maybe the problem is that you used the upgrade.php which was mistakenly placed in the 762 to 763 patch.

I would have to tried upload 763 patch, delete install and upgrade PHP without using. Then upload the the 7.64 patch. From what I have seen, the docs mention the upgrade.php even when it isn't needed.

  • Stop running the upgrade script!!!!

Anyway, I created an unofficial upgrade patch...

Please see the downloads section of http://pnsetup.com (hopefully you can see it, it is still propagating, due to server changes).

    Just upload the uncompressed files.

Good luck, let me know if you have issues.

  • Now I'm back to my original state. It is just garbled now but its better then blank.

I am not sure what to try next.
  • I believe, there are still minor bugs associated with .764 and has to be fixed.

  • Well I seem to be hosed completely now. While I have restored from a couple of backups (/var/lib/mysql and /var/www/html), my site won't come backup. I have no idea why. All the files and database are in those two directories. Anyone have suggestions or tips? (www.theforgiven.net)
  • Thanks AmmoDump. I used your unofficial patch and went from 762 to 764. All works well.
