I have recently took over our a website for a local fishing organization (www.kbcf.com). I am wanting to upgrade to the last stable release, but am having problems. Here is what I am trying to do. What I have done is downloaded .764 and then put in all of the modules that we have currently running in .750. I then upload all of this with the old config.php to a directory called "edited" that is in the same diretory as our current installation "PostNuke".
I then go into our working site and turn off all of the none core modules that we are using and change the theme to extralite. I also have ensured that all modules listed in the upgrade document are activated. I then ensure that all the compile and cache directries in PnTemp are CHMOD to 777.
I then log out of our site and go to edited/upgrade.php. I log in as an administrator and proceed with the upgrade and everything goes as it should. It says the installation was completed.
Here is what I get when I upgrade. It all looks good.
Admin upgraded.
Admin_Messages upgraded.
Autolinks upgraded.
Blocks upgraded.
Censor upgraded.
Credits upgraded.
Groups upgraded.
Header_Footer upgraded.
legal upgraded.
LostPassword upgraded.
Members_List upgraded.
Modules upgraded.
Multisites upgraded.
NewUser upgraded.
Referers upgraded.
Settings upgraded.
User upgraded.
Xanthia upgraded.
I then click on the link it provides to your homepage. It takes me to the homepage and I attempt to login in. It takes me to the logging in screen and then takes me back to the homepage, but I am not logged in.
I am not sure what is going on.
Any suggestions would be wonderful. I have tried this many times with out any success.
Oh, the reason I do not write over my old PostNuke files is so that all I have to do is uploaded my database backup and the old site is back up and running. I am trying to eliminate down time.
Thanks
James

Problems upgrading from .750

Everything looks fine when I checked your site...
Normally follow whatever the /docs says and that will take you through the entire installation process....
I am sure that you have make an entire directory replacement and some of your thirdparty modules has to be updated as well since there is a good chance they won't work on .764 version.
Good Luck!

I changed everything back to the old site so it would still be up and running. On my new PostNuke directory I have all of the updated modules in there. Everything seems to update, but I am not able to log into my site after the update. When I go to log in, it says "Logging In", but when it takes you back to the home page I am not logged it. I am not sure what is going on.

Hmmm Weired. Have you tried with a different browser? Also make sure your browser is accepting cookies? edited by: Bad_Dude, Dec 09, 2006 - 09:47 PM
I thought of the same thing. I set my privacy settings to the lowest setting and still nothing.
James -
If I point my browser at www.kbcf.com, it loads what I think is the 0.750 site and then seems to try to redirect to the .764 site (www.kbcf.com/postnuke/index.php) and I get the themeheader line 42 error, which my mean that you need to re-upload your themes.
Is it possible it is trying to use a theme that is not active in the new distribution?

You fixed something.
This link works: http://www.kbcf.com/postnuke/index.php
and http://www.kbcf.com/postnuke/user.php gets me the login screen.
Please take install.php out of your site!

It still will not let you log onto the site, but everything else is working. I just removed the install file.
username: test
password: bssmsters
Try that and see what it is doing.

And I was able to register - though initially it did not seem to send me a password, when I did the lost password bit, then it sent me the confirmation code, which I entered and got a new password which works.
Sounds like progress.

When you registered did it let you log into the site?

When I registered it told me it would send me a password, but it did not.
But when I pretended I had lost my password, it sent me a new one which let me register.
(Peter is my user name.)
I can see the Members link.
I do not see a log-out link anywhere, so I cannot log out and then try again to log in.
Some of the menu items still give me what sound like theme errors.

I can't access your site now.. Sorry I was away.
Error message I get is
Code
Fatal error: Call to undefined function: themeheader() in /home/kbcf811/public_html/postnuke/header.php on line 42
Reason; Improper uploading and missing files. Some of the files are still there from version .764.... Take your time and do everything in a slower pace... Sometimes using the cpanel and deleting the files doesn't necessarily delete all the files so you have to give it sometimes till the server refreshes and then upload your new files.

I am trying the upgrade again. I am reading through the upgrade readme once again.
I will post the results as soon as I finish. Also, the user you created will not be there. I applied my database backup. -
