    Indeed, there seems to be confusion here.
    The 'books-module' and 'AmaZone-module' are two different modules.
    • The books module [as far as I recall it], you have to input manually the books [title, category, description, etc...] and an affiliate links pops up next to the description
      --> http://www.vedrine.net/module-books.html

    • Amzone-module: you have to do nothing except maybe entering ANSI numbers, so you can put them highlighted on your site, if you want to, all the rest goes by the Amazon webservices
      --> http://www.vedrine.net/AmaZone.html

    I see for Amazone version 1.2 is to be found in the CVS. [PROBABLY WITH ISSUES]

    i remember the conversation on the books-module-list last year: AFAIK, Jean Michel finally dediced to release his new "baby" the complete overhauled (or redesigned) book-module, where he integrated many features and new things. We should make sure where the new version is and how stable it is.

    Anyway: Besides this we should get the actual (the newest version) into a testing field. Especially a Amazon-web-services module needs many testers, since the different Country-codes are quite important.

    and besides this - Videokid, we have two Amazon-modules ....;

    we have two ones:

    http://www.ttgapers.com
    http://www.vedrine.net

    BTW see this posting: http://community.postnuke.com/module-Forum-viewtopic-topic-48954-start-0.htm whereas the guy from http://www.ttgapers.com annouces his module...

    Quote

    Features:
    pnAPI compliant
    pnRendered compliant
    .76x, .8 compliant (thus far)
    multi-locale (even Japan)
    multi-currency
    XHTML 1.1 compliant (as much as possbible)
    ECS 4.0 compliant
    REST compliant

    See in action: http://www.ttgapers.com

    I would like to submit this to PostNuke Modules for inclusion. Please advise on module registration etc.

    Now, I am still contemplating this modules for general release. Based on feedback it will be. Last time I did not get enough feedback to warrant release and support. Hopefully now with a multi-locale offering it will be.

    Regards

    VideoKid, what should we do. It is sad sad sad that Supa from http://www.ttgapers.com
    keeps his interesting module unreleased. This is funny, isnt it.

    Anyway: i look forward to hear from you. Especially we can look and see whats the newest version of Jean Michel Vedrines module is. Is this a new version... http://noc.postnuke.com/scm/?group_id=401

    Hmm perhaps we can contact him....

    what do you think....?! Look forward to hear from you..

    cheers

    Hello,
    I am still alive icon_biggrin but unfortunately I have no time for PostNuke programming icon_frown
    The NOC has the most up to date version of both books and AmaZone modules, apart from small bugfixes that I have made since but was unable to commit to the NOC because my password is no more working (I have tried to notify several members of the PN team that I was unable to commit to CVS, but received no response, the strange thing is that the password work to log on the NOC but not to commit with my turtoise CVS client)
    I wil probably not be able to do any serious programming work for the comming years, so if anybody want to work on these modules, I will gladly accept.

    Jean Michel thanks for this offer. I think that the best thing is to announce it on the main /(module) page. The Amazon-mod is a most wanted and a great real world application. So i am sure that it has many friends. Let us make sure that the development continues.

    Someone should take care and take the issue to the news-site of pn.com

    cheers occasione

    Hello,
    Some bad news :
    Amazone PostNuke module has stopped working.
    This is because the Amazon Web Service that the module was using to get data from Amazon is now deprecated.
    To make it works again it would be necessary to rewrite the whole code to query the new version of Amazon Web Service. And in fact it would be better to rewrite the whole module to be pnAPI compliant and templated.
    Unfortunately I have no time for that huge task so unless someone want to adopt this module, it is now dead.
    But as I have received no query or mail since it doesn't work I guess not a lot of people are still using it.
    On the contrary I will release a new version of the books module wich query the new version of Amazon Web Service to get books details in administration (this was only a small work so I was able to do it).

    it shouldn't be too much work, if you code the basics with modulestudio and then put in my xmltotemplate plugin. it fetches everything that is xml and fetchable via URL and turns it into pnRender variables.

    Does this mean there is an API enabled version of the Books module?

    I would like to have that, I had to remove Amazone. I had previously used the books module with manual entry and switched to Amazone. Really entering the isbn numbers and having the details drawn from Amazon API would be ideal for my site.
