    Basically here's what I've done:
    On Development Server
    1) Used phpMyAdmin to export the Database to a file.
    2) Made Backup of the PostNuke filesystem

    On Production Server
    1) Used phpMyAdmin to create new database and imported database file (same name(s) and credentials as dev server)
    2) Copied PostNuke file system to new server.

The site seems to be working fine with a few exceptions:
    1) Can't login as a user or admin (says it's logging in but never actually logs you in)
    2) I noticed a few things changed (probably during export/import) like quotes being replaced with â?¢ and some other character replacements.
    3) Using an Xanthia theme (modified version of PostNukeBlue) seems to work in Firefox but there are issues in IE that weren't before. This may be an issue with my style sheet or links to my style sheet.

Here are the specifics/differences from the Development and Production Servers.

    Development Server:
    PostNuke 7.6.2
    Linux
    PHP 5.1.6
    Apache 2.2.4 (Fedora)
    MySQL 5.027

    Production Server:
    PostNuke 7.6.2
    Windows 2003
    PHP 5.2.1
    Apache 2.2.4 (Fedora)
    MySQL 5.027

The only differences being the version of PHP and the type of server. Which I realize can be a lot icon_rolleyes

Any ideas as to what I may need to change/edit, permissions I need to check etc... Also I was wondering if i try an upgrade to 7.6.4 if this might fix any problems?

    Thanks in advance,
    shane

After further research there's apparently a sessions issue with PHP 5.2

I'm going to see if there is a work around for PHP 5.2 or if I'm going to have to downgrade to PHP 4.

Any suggestions/guidance will be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,
    shane

PN should work with PHP 5 and safe_mode 'on'.

Perhaps it's best to log-out on the dev server site, go to php_MyAdmin and optimize all tables, export and import on production server.
About the Theme, use Extra_Lite that's best, get things running, then start worrying about the look and feel of your site icon_smile

    SANITY CHECK!

Hi PNers. Above videokid states "PN should work with PHP 5". I have several sites with PN .7.6.2 running fine, but before I up the server (LAMP) from PHP 4.4.6 to PHP 5.2.1, thought it may be prudent (something new for me) to ask advice...

On top of that, I am too busy now, and too lazy, to up PN to .7.6.4. What should I do, up to PHP 5.2.1 now or wait until I can also up PN to .7.6.4 (or 8?)? You're the experts!

    Thanks,

    Pepe

Moving from .762 to .764 is nothing more than file replace... Old files out-new files in.

Upgrading to PHP 5 should not be problematic with register_globals off.

My advice is to up to .764 at the very least. The rest is up to you.
