    Hello everybody,

I have a site up and running for 2 years now using PostNuke .760
The problem is that since some time new blocks from third party modules will only show if I use another third party module. For example, I am running pnFreeChat for some time now and I would like to show the who's online block on the right, but when I switch it on in blocks it only shows when I am using PnSchedule, TBcontact, pnFreeChat, otherwise it won't show.
Does anyone have an idea about solving the problem? It would mean a lot of help, since it makes me use new blocks in the future! icon_smile

Do you have inactive blocks? Try dumping any inactive blocks.. sometimes if you leave a block from a non-existant module it can cause a issue. Also look for pnMedic.

    Thanks!
I've tried deleting all blocks that we're inactive and I installed the pnMedic module and used it, but it doesn't work. There must be something interfering with the blocks...

Hmmm. You know what. There is something wrong with the pnFreeChat block, in my opinion. The release is only beta, and I have put it aside due to issues with it (the block, not the module). Should of read your post more carefully. Is this the only block which gives you issue?

I have this problem with more modules, like pnSkype and random photo display of photoshare.
The strange thing is that when I make a new block, all my blocks on the left give this warning:
    Unknown blocktype: menu!

"This block doesn't seem to exist. Please check corresponding blocks directory."

The blocks on the right act normal and after installing a new block the left returns to normal also.

    Ah! An error message!

    Okay, then...

Since you are running .760 it is time to the latest version.

Your problem, more than likely, is due to a missed placed/misnamed block in the includes area...

Before you begin back-up everything (files and database).

Do an inventory of your current installed 3rd party modules. This is the perfect time to clean house. Figure out what 3rd party modules you no longer need and uninstall them and delete their directories.

    Perform a second backup.

Try to locate all the current versions of the 3rd party modules you want to use. Because with a corrupt core (which I believe, you have) you want to start with a fresh core of PN, and reinstall the 3rd party modules (to current versions).

If you are good with what I am trying to get at... then go for it.. if you need more detailed instructions (read suggestions). Report back.

Thanks for the help. I guess building a clean new site, won't be a problem, might be best icon_smile
