The PostNuke Team releases Release Candidate 1

    Official Release: http://community.postnuke.com/Article2836.htm

The long awaited PostNuke 8 series, is winding down it's development cycle with the release of the first RC. While, the RC is still only a development release, the developers encourage everyone who has the resources available to give it a whirl, as this will speed the final debug process. One very crucial hurdle pasted!

    As always-Enjoy!

(Note: Please do not post issues to this tread).

    Woooow!
Begin the 'engaged' time developing with PN0.8!

I'll see if can work for the RC2!
I am being very ambitious with pnRelay, and am going to try to include it with merit in the ValueAddons of 0.8 series!

    Thanks a lot core-Devs!
    Hard and quality work! icon_cool

    Great news!

    Good work, core team.

Any particular areas that need to be tested and fleshed out a little more? I'll certainly look at my interests, but would love to take some time to look over areas that need a a good workover, too.

    Thanks!

We're looking for anything and everything - let's make 0.8 the most refined release yet! Things that will have been tested less are user side functions, like the registration process, dynamic user data etc, so if you would like to focus on something, that would be it.

Please post any and all issues for evaluation in the bug tracker.

If you've already worked with the milestones and development snapshots then there's not to much new that needs extensive testing - just a general review across the board from the user perspective.

In additon to those mentioned by hammerhead another area for people to look at is 3rd party modules. It's not been possible for us to test every possible 3rd party module.

I'm a total newbie, but I have some space on my server. Will create a subdirectory and a database for it and test it there - I don't know much about code, but I guess we want this release noob friendly as well. So I can test it for idiot-proofness. I might end up running here with problems I'm clueless to handle.

This should be safe I presume - in terms of danger to the rest of the site?

Well, I would create a subdomain in lieu of a directory, but it should be fine regardless...

Please by all means come back with 'noob' problems, sometimes it is hard for us very experienced users that have an elevated knowledge of the system to understand 'noobish' problems.

    Thanks--

Well..... I've got the green to be as "noob" as I like, so here goes. I've already done the install. It went fine, except for this message in the middle of it:

    Code

             4. (array) args: (empty)

No clue what any of this means. The install worked anyway. Nice, fancy CMS. Looks fantastic, works fast and seems reasonably idiot friendly. At least I could figure out most of what I came across, though I haven't really started posting and stuff as yet or used a lot of the features. I just installed it.

I have another problem, which is more likely to be my ignorance than a true problem. The module links in the menu block on the left go to 404 errors. Is there something I should have done and I haven't which is causing that? I'd like them to go where they are supposed to. What should I do? I tried editing the block, but couldn't understand what to do.

Feel free to take a look:
