Ok, many tests later:
Initialisation is ok,
The module works but it's a small solution. This module came from damn old time... It is an old version of web_links but not a really .8 module. You can use it waiting for a real web_links module .8 compliant (working with category and using a templating system.
The lang file is not complete. I make a french version including "new" define.
I made little hack for having a more friendly admin panel.
I try to use CMods_WebLinks 1.9, it works too (except pictures on my .8) -

I updated a few small things (including the language file) last night. Looks like I must have committed a slightly old version as I was sure i'd done this already. This version wasn't meant as anything other than an interim measure in that it is the .7x version of module made to work properly under .80.

Mark, thanks for updating the module.
There is a slight problem with short urls enabled in the directory style:
The generated link is Web_Links/viewlink/cid:1 but that links leads to the starting page...
And in Web_Links/NewLinks/ a click on the selected date with an entry (Web_Links/NewLinksDate/selectdate:1209633014) leads to a subpage saying: date - 0 Newest links -

It's not really a bug report, but a request: Is it possible to customise block like old "latest new links" and "best view" and "ours favorites"...
I try to customise an old 764 weblinks block and put it in pnblocks web_links directory but I can't list it in the block module. -

Is there an updated version of the Web_Links module out there solving this issue?

Mark: Could you please check permissions too. I tried to allow guests to add links, but it's not working.
