    Hi,

After trying a number of CMS software, I have settled on PostNuke, I however have been having problems when I change a template, it changed once then it went back to the original template in the install (0.76.4). Right now nothing changes, I have taken out all cache box ticks, ticked compile check, force compilation, deleted compiled templates and deleted cache pages and still nothing changes. Tried new template and still same original white theme. I don't know what to do again, not even sure if anything changes. Other question is if it takes long to change a template would the content take long too as I have not added any content because I am unsure of the update on PostNuke.

Thanks for all help in advance.

p.s. last question, not attached to here but thought I would ask, what link do you use to login when you put the site offline?

    Thanks again to all.

How are you changing the templates? And which theme are you using? Or do you mean you can't change themes?

    Thanks for the help,

I am using News Portal now, but tried all in the template section (well themes as I am used to templates from Joomla etc...) - activating them and nothing happens still shows the white template. At wits end here, don't know what to do.

I change the templates in the Xanthia where there are a number of them to activate, I also installed News Portal in the directory to see if it would work, it shows up but when I change, nothing happens. I notice that many people have a problem with caching but I do not have caching on on the site.

    Thanks in adance

First of all lets get terminology right, a 'theme' controls the overall look and feel of your site, templates are the pieces that a theme uses to stitch the page together. So to be clear, we are discussing themes not templates. I'm not sure how Joomla etc. do it, the difference is critical in this thread.

Also themes should be installed to the themes directory only.

Ok, from my understanding of what you're saying you are trying to change the theme through Xanthia? I don't see where you could do that, themes in 0.764 are changed through Admin>System>Settings at the 'Default theme for this site:' drop down list.

    Is this what you're doing?

I think that the original problem was that mlsto was trying to change the templates code from the Xanthia online editor, but i'm afraid that this only works when the templates are stored in the DB.

@mlsto: The way to change the templates of your theme is to go to your theme templates folder (eg. /themes/YourThemeName/templates) and change it there. Then you can clear the Xanthia compiled templates and you can see the changes (or just enable Force recompilation until your finish your theme customization).

@emily: Is your problem related with this topic?
if not, please search in the forum for a thread with your problem, and if it currently doesn't exist, please open a new topic icon_wink

I'm having the same problem as Mlsto using Seabreeze on 7.6.4. I've tried changing the themes both through Xanthia and ftp but the pages always get served the same old way.

I've tried setting Forced Compilation and the settings as per the Tips at the bottom of

    http://community.postnuke.../Wiki-XanthiaIntro.htm

Still no joy - what am i doing wrong?

Thanks - that helped a lot, cheers.

One problem I was having was in thinking master.htm was sitewide when in fact it only covers pages that ARE NOT the homepage - which is handled by home.htm (in themes/Seabreeze/templates/modules).

You could modify the config files within the theme to use the master.htm for all pages including home.

And admin.htm handles the admin (&type=admin) pages.

Those aren't there by default in 0.7x.

    xaninit.php can do it
or you could write the templates to to the master template
    Code
// this file just points to another template
    <!--[include file='master.htm']-->
