That is what my permissions are NOW. I haven't even touched them. All I want to do is restrict some things, hide some links in the main menu, you know, THE USUAL STUFF!!
I have read just about all 95 pages of this forum and I have tried just about everythign I have come accross. Nothing works, heck even the way the permissions are now, (the DEFAULTS), not even they work. They did for a while. Now they don't. Just all the sudden like. There must be something else going on. I have no clue as to what it would be. I'm really tired of reading and reading and reading and reading.....I love this forum. I have actually learned quite a bit about post nuke in my readings but, time to fix stuff. HELP!!!!!!!!

I want it to look like this for unregistered users:

My menu looks like the top on ALL THE TIME. I don't want that. This should be the simplest function in the world for permissions. On the older versions of PN, i don't remember ever having this much trouble. This seems to be only an issue that has come up recently.
Maybe im not putting the permissions in the right verbage or something but i have tried everything i can think of.

Is you block still named Main Menu? This is the blocktitle. If you have changed it you need to adapt the permissions as well.
I use this on a fresh 764 for testing and it works ok. And beware of the semicolon David talked about.

And permissions don't suck off course
. It's Setting them that can be difficult sometimes.

My suggestion: 2 Menu blocks. One for registered and one for unregistered users. Then you don't have to adjust your permissions every time you change a menu.
And permissions don't suck. They are great. They are only complex.

This is my guess as to the problem, every time I've had to investigate this type of issue for a client, it is because they changed the name of the menu block.

I concur...they don't suck...but would also infer they're not complex, either...just robust and must be technically applied
I use the dual menu blocks approach - works great, and you can add as many links as you want while never needing to add permissions again. Also, its UI friendly as a new menu appears, instead of a user not seeing that the menu just has an additional line (perhaps in the middle where they don't notice it). -

Just tried the colon thing. It didn't work.
, So, unless the block itself is named somewhere else here is its details as they appear in the admin panel.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Left| Main Menu |Core |menu |All |Active |[Deactivate | Edit | Delete]
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
According to my blocks this is what my main menu line says...... anyone see anything out of order? or missnamed?......I am riddled with A.D.D. so if I am missing it I won't be suprised.

I only have the default ones right now. What you see in my first post in this thread is what I have, after the edit you told me to do. but so you don't have to go all the way to the top of the page here you go:

2 All groups Menublock:: Main Menu:Administration: None
