I installed 'shopping cart' and it isn't showing up in admin..

okay I followed step-by-step:

I upload the shopping cart file and I did activate it but it isn't showing up on the admin section.
what am I doing wrong?

Which shopping cart did you include ? Are you trying to install it under PN 0.764 or pn0.8 ?

"The basic one" is off course relatively vague , but probably its one of the 0.76x versions. The latest is 764 and recommended for security and so on.
If you log into the admin panel, do you see
PostNuke administration panel (0.7.6.4) or Admin Panel (0.8.0.0-RC3) or something like that.
I don't have any experience with the shoppingcart module myself, If you go to the admin section the shoppingcart module is listed as active ? Then it should be in one of the admin tabs. 3rd party or one of the others.

yep. it is listed as active but I don't see it under the Admin Panel :(
and it is 0.7.6.4 I have
