It's been 2 weeks since I'm trying to install the PostNuke module of phprofession, with no luck to make it work.
I download the phprofession 2.1.1 version, which according to the comments of the file in the downloads section in phpsolutions portal, is the more stable version, because I already try with the phprofession 2.5.4 and had a lot of problems, also try with standalone versions (all of them), and same results.
And now, with "the more stable version" for PostNuke, I cannot get in to the admin section, the errors are when following the link you mentioned in the _Install.txt: "modules.php?op=modload&name=phprofession/admin&file=index" I got a 404 error: Page not found.
And when I try to access the index.php file in the admin folder, like this: http://www.resourcesconsultores.com.mx/portal/html/modules/phprofession/admin/index.php I got the following error:
Warning: Failed opening './modules/phprofession/config.php' for inclusion (include_path='') in /home/resource/public_html/portal/html/modules/phprofession/admin/index.php on line 14
Warning: Failed opening './modules/phprofession/admin/auth.php' for inclusion (include_path='') in /home/resource/public_html/portal/html/modules/phprofession/admin/index.php on line 15
Warning: Failed opening 'header.php' for inclusion (include_path='') in /home/resource/public_html/portal/html/modules/phprofession/admin/index.php on line 34
Fatal error: Call to undefined function: opentable() in /home/resource/public_html/portal/html/modules/phprofession/admin/index.php on line 71
One more thing, in the admin section of PostNuke, it doesn't appear the phprofession icon.
So, I don't know what else I can do, as I tried and tried, over and over again, and errors appears everywhere.
I really like this module, but with this kind of errors, I think is unstable and very hard to configure. Hope I get some answers from the original developer or from another user which had the same problems and solve it!
Thanks! -

I really have no doubt that phprofession is a very important module, and I've been trying to install the latest version 2.5.4 for PostNuke, and now runs ok, but a vey important language is missing: Spanish.
Because I am in Mexico, which is a spanish speaking country, I need it in Spanish, and spanish is also a very important language in the world.
And with more than 2 million people in the world that are spanish speakers, in Spain, LatinAmerica, and hispanic people in the US, I think this translation is a must; because if it is important right now, would be even more important because will cover an important part of the world.
I'm trying to translate the English US Version to spanish, and when I run it, gives me a lot of errors also.
But I don't need comments here (sorry for the roughness), I need solutions. So far this is what I done, in order to make it run:
1.- I create a new subfolder under lang folder, and named spa.
2.- I copy the files from the english folder to the spa folder.
3.- I open the global.php and translate what needs to be translate, obviously not the hard code neither the variables and such.
4.- I translate the images to spanish.
5.- In line 55 of the config.php file, I change the default language to spa.
6.- I run it from PostNuke, and the titles in the Administration area as well as in the front end, (user area), appears in English, no matter what I change or do, but with the names of the variables: example: ._JOBLIST.
Not even the English language titles.
Also, it would be very helpful to develop a spanish version of the installer. :)
So, this is the specific problem, then again, if you matz, or anyone else knows the solution, please let me know, in order to make it run, and also would be a very helpful contribution, will have a spanish translation for this module, available for everybody in the 2 million people spanish speaking world. (http://www.postnuke-espanol.org and http://www.postnuke-hispano.com)
Thanks again

Hey, guys,
just wanted to let you know that we are currently working on making a fully pnAPI-compliant version of phProfession. It is still under development. As soon as we will be ready we'll post an announcement either here or at phpsolutions.co.uk. No doubt, the multilang support will be there. We will definitely need translation help. If you're ready to help with this (carlos-web, how about translating into Spanish?), please let me know.
I understand your frustration about the current problems of PN installation of phPro. I went through this myself, which is why I decided to start the conversion into pnAPI. All I can say for now is stay tuned, and let me know if you can assist with translating.
Cheers,
MisterRus. -

I'm ready to begin with the translation of the phprofession module to spanish, as soon as I receive from you the original texts, because I don't know which PHP files has english words that the end user/administrators, see once the module is running, what I mean is that, as the module it is right now, is very confusing, because if you define a language different than english, it simply doesn't change, for example, if you want to change from english to french, some text displays in english and the images from the form that the candidate fills, (eg: Personal Information, Skills, etc) displays in french, but the text still display in English.
So it's easier, for organization sake, to have the original texts, in english, in a file per file basis, stating clearly the name of the correspondant PHP file, that way I just translate the texts, sending you the spanish texts for each of them, and then you, integrate that spanish files to the final distribution of the module.
One more thing: Please, please, please, make more effective your phpsolutions forums responds, because we need fast responses and sometimes, for example in my first post there, took 5 days to answer by Aidan, and my last post, has no response yet :(
With all the changes you mentioned, making the module pnAPI compliant, I hope ends once and for all the frustration.
Thanks again, and send me the files to my mail at: webmaster@creatividad-digital.com to begin the spanish translation, right away!

Carlos,
I see your point about the translation files. This release is being written on the basis of the Template mod and will contain several lang files (pnuser, pnuserapi, pnadmin, pnadminapi) in respective folders. This way it'll be easy for you to translate the lang defines. As the mod is still under development, I don't really want to make you do the same work over and over again. Therefore, I'll send the lang files to you as soon as we'll be ready for the first beta release.
As for the phpsolutions forum, I am neither the owner nor the developer of the phpsolutions.co.uk. I myself was a user (not a developer) of phProfession for PN. Just like you I was frustrated with problems I had. I adapted the mod to fit my personal needs and after that I decided to rewrite the mod into a pnAPI-compliant one. After seeing the discussion about it on phpsolutions, I let the guys involved in the discussion know about my progress. The guys responded offering assistance. That's how it all started. I was not involved in development of previous releases and I didn't really look into the previous releases to be able to provide support. Which is why I can't really reply to all those requests at the forum.
After releasing the new version, I think, I will be heavily involved in support. But at the meantime I can't say anything about it.
As for Aidan, he is very eager to assist, but it seems he's the only out there and he doesn't have much time to do it. I will definitely let him know about your frustration.
Cheers,

I do really appreciate the answers you gave me, in the phpsolutions forum and here :)
I'll wait until you send me the files need it to be translated, and as always I'm willing to help with this effort of you, that speaks very good about yourself, caring for other people neccesities.
About my javascript problem, I did what you advice me, and now is running smooth in english, but still having problems, when translated into spanish, some references still seeing in english, even when I define the language as french (using the french installation file), I used this, just to test if the problem is just because the translation references I change, but sadly :( the problem is with all the languages except english, I suppose this is due to the fact that this module is not pnAPI compliant.
I'll wait until the new release of your module is in beta, to translate it and use it as well.
About Aidan, oh well, I understand he is very busy, and have little or no time, as all the nukers in the world are :) but at least he could show some interest in other people's problems about the module he develop, I mean, if he is the original developer, the least I expect is some kind of commitment with his users or his work.
For instance, you are not the developer, and you show interest in other people's problems, :D and you go beyond that, developing the pnApi compliant version.
For all your effort, I want to thank you, and from now on, you can count on me, at least, right now for the spanish translation of your work.
Thanks again

Hi, guys,
sorry for keeping silence, i don't check postnuke.com too often.
the development is still going on, at full speed.
phpsolutions.co.uk is indeed down, AFAIK Aidan is taking care of it. For the time being, if you want to download the latest official releases, go to http://sourceforge.net/projects/profession
Carlos, we do need help (as usual
), drop me a line at webmaster AT bolashak DOT kz. Tell me how you can help.

The mail I just sent to you: webmaster@bolashak.kz, has bounced, here is the error message I received:

Ok, so, here I include the original message I sent you via mail:

I'm always willing to help in anything I can to improve PN.
I dont know PHP, I mean, I know, just to change some few things, but not to be able to develop a module, or to make corrections to it.
Instead, I will help with the spanish translation, as I offered before in the PN forums, is the best I can do, to collaborate in this relaunching of phprofession, so, if you agree with this, you can start sending me the files that need to be translated to spanish, as the development progress, to have time to integrate them in the beta version releases, and make sure works fine with the integration of the module itself.
Thanks to consider me to take part of this project, and hoping to hear from you very soon.

Carlos,
my registrar has just made a really bad joke: they cancelled my domain registration together with all dns records as well as mx ones :x
so, for now i have to deal with restoring the dns records. i'll do that in the beginning of the next week. in the meantime development is still going on. I do have a demo under ongoing development (if I can call it such :)).
I'll contact during the weekend about the lang files.

great to hear from you! It would be great if you consider to put any kind of demo (i.e. even the old version of phprofession ) online and make accessible for all the interested nukers.
The downtime of the official site on http://phpsolutions.co.uk is very bad for the publicity of this great module! Any (!!) demo-version would be a great benefit for the community as is would show the featurerich module in action.
So please take such a demo into consideration - even if it is the old version V2-5-4 of phprofession.
just my 2 cents
martin :D
